Xiaomi Revolutionizes Automotive Industry with Five Core Technologies and Unveils the Xiaomi SU7

Xiaomi has made a bold and transformative move in the automotive world by unveiling its Xiaomi EV’s five core technologies—E-Motor, Battery, Xiaomi Hyper Die-Casting, Xiaomi Pilot Autonomous Driving, and Smart Cabin. The brand aims to redefine the automotive industry by bringing a convergence of smart technologies that integrates the automobile, the home, and the human experience into a seamless ecosystem. At the core of this ambitious leap is the Xiaomi SU7, a full-size, high-performance eco-technology sedan, set to challenge established norms and introduce a new era of smart mobility.

Xiaomi’s Five Core Automotive Technologies

Xiaomi’s official entry into the electric vehicle (EV) market underscores its investment in foundational core technologies. Xiaomi’s research and development (R&D) team consists of more than 3,400 engineers and technical experts, working across five key areas.\

E-Motor: HyperEngine V8s and V6/V6s

At the heart of Xiaomi’s EV innovation is its self-developed HyperEngine electric motors, including the powerful V8s, V6, and V6s. The HyperEngine V8s achieves a global record with a maximum speed of 27,200 rpm and a peak torque of 635N·m. This motor pushes the boundaries of electric motor technology, rivaling the performance of traditional V8 combustion engines. Its innovative cooling systems and silicon steel design allow for unprecedented efficiency and performance.

Xiaomi’s HyperEngine V6/V6s also sets industry benchmarks with maximum power outputs of 299 PS and 374 PS, respectively. These motors ensure that Xiaomi EVs maintain top-tier performance in an environmentally friendly package.

Battery: CTB Integrated Battery Technology

Xiaomi’s battery technology, including its CTB Integrated Battery, introduces a revolutionary approach to electric vehicle energy storage. With a maximum capacity of up to 150 kWh and a theoretical CLTC recharge range exceeding 1200 km, the Xiaomi SU7 is set to offer some of the highest ranges in the industry. Its state-of-the-art safety mechanisms include a 14-layer protection system and a dual-side water-cooling solution, which together ensure durability and performance in all conditions.

Xiaomi Hyper Die-Casting: Titans Metal & T9100 Cluster

In a move that underlines its manufacturing prowess, Xiaomi has developed the Xiaomi Hyper Die-Casting T9100 cluster, paired with the proprietary Titans Metal alloy. This die-casting process integrates 72 components into a single underbody structure, reducing weight by 17% and production time by 45%. Such innovations are key to Xiaomi’s ability to manufacture cars at scale while maintaining precision and quality.

Xiaomi Pilot Autonomous Driving: Pioneering AI Technologies

Xiaomi’s autonomous driving technology leverages AI with its Adaptive BEV Technology, Road-Mapping Foundational Model, and Super-Res Occupancy Network. These innovations enhance obstacle detection, route planning, and vehicle control, allowing Xiaomi EVs to perform at the top tier of autonomous driving technology. The system’s sophisticated hardware includes two NVIDIA Orin chips and an array of LiDAR, cameras, and radars, further enhancing its capabilities.

Smart Cabin: A Mobile Smart Space

The Xiaomi EV Smart Cabin creates an immersive, tech-driven driving experience with features like a 16.1-inch 3K central console, a 56-inch head-up display, and a five-screen interaction system. The cabin’s Snapdragon 8295 chip ensures that the car operates with the fluidity of a high-performance smartphone, enabling seamless integration with the wider Xiaomi ecosystem, including over 1000 smart home devices.

Xiaomi SU7: A Dream Car for the Future

The Xiaomi SU7 represents the pinnacle of the brand’s automotive ambitions. Powered by the HyperEngine E-motors, it boasts an acceleration time of 0-100 km/h in just 2.78 seconds and can reach a top speed of 265 km/h, placing it in the same league as the world’s fastest EVs. The vehicle’s Smart Chassis control algorithm allows for real-time adjustments, providing a bump-free, smooth driving experience.

But performance isn’t the only area where the Xiaomi SU7 shines. The sedan is deeply integrated into Xiaomi’s “Human x Car x Home” smart ecosystem, seamlessly connecting with smart home devices and offering a personalized, user-centered experience.

Completing the Human x Car x Home Ecosystem

Xiaomi’s overarching vision is to build a “Human x Car x Home” ecosystem that connects individuals, their vehicles, and their homes into a unified technological environment. Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, emphasized that this strategy will transform everyday life by enabling real-time collaboration among devices, smart services, and users. By integrating over 200 product categories into Xiaomi HyperOS, the company ensures that its EV technology complements a vast array of devices, from home appliances to smartphones, to enhance daily living.

A New Beginning for Xiaomi in the Automotive World

With the unveiling of the Xiaomi SU7 and its suite of innovative core technologies, Xiaomi is not merely entering the automotive market—it’s aiming to redefine it. By bridging the worlds of smartphones, smart homes, and electric vehicles, Xiaomi is positioning itself to become a dominant force in the global EV landscape, striving to be among the top five automakers globally in the next 15 to 20 years.

As Lei Jun said, “Xiaomi’s entry into the automotive industry signifies a new beginning.” The Xiaomi SU7 and its ecosystem will no doubt be a part of that bright future.
